🔶The name comes from kalam, i.e. a pen, which is used to paint these exquisite paintings. The pen used is made of sharp pointed bamboo, used to regulate the flow of colours.
🔶 The base is cotton fabric while the colours used are
vegetable dyes. The pen is soaked in a mixture of fermented jaggery and water; one by one these are applied and thereafter, the vegetable dyes are applied.
🔶The main centers for this art are Srikalahasti and Machilipatnam in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The images are drawn free hand and the inspiration comes from Hindu mythology.
🔶Textiles with handwork are also produced here. Kalamkari painting had its existence even during Vijayanagara empire. It has received GI status.
કલમકારી ચિત્રો
🔶આ નામ કલામ પરથી આવ્યું છે, એટલે કે પેન, જેનો ઉપયોગ આ ઉત્કૃષ્ટ ચિત્રો દોરવા માટે થાય છે. ઉપયોગમાં લેવાતી પેન તીક્ષ્ણ પોઇન્ટેડ વાંસની બનેલી છે, જેનો ઉપયોગ રંગોના પ્રવાહને નિયંત્રિત કરવા માટે થાય છે.
🔶 બેઝ કોટન ફેબ્રિક છે જ્યારે રંગો વપરાય છે
વનસ્પતિ રંગો. પેનને આથો ગોળ અને પાણીના મિશ્રણમાં પલાળવામાં આવે છે; એક પછી એક આને લાગુ કરવામાં આવે છે અને ત્યારબાદ વનસ્પતિ રંગો લાગુ કરવામાં આવે છે.
🔶આ કલાના મુખ્ય કેન્દ્રો આંધ્ર પ્રદેશ રાજ્યમાં શ્રીકાલહસ્તી અને માછલીપટ્ટનમ છે. છબીઓ મુક્ત હાથે દોરવામાં આવી છે અને પ્રેરણા હિન્દુ પૌરાણિક કથાઓમાંથી આવે છે.
🔶 હેન્ડવર્ક સાથેના કાપડનું પણ અહીં ઉત્પાદન થાય છે. વિજયનગર સામ્રાજ્ય દરમિયાન પણ કલમકારી ચિત્રનું અસ્તિત્વ હતું. તેને જીઆઈનો દરજ્જો મળ્યો છે.
